Kia ora e te whānau,

Such a wonderful few weeks at Curious Minds Early Learning, from learning about our sea life, to painting murals, celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year, Holi, and going for a hīkoi up the mountains, we have been non-stop busy!

Have a great time reading all about what your tamariki have been up to...

Island Bay

This month at Island Bay has been filled with both celebration and challenges as we farewelled Beth with a beautiful whole centre gathering honouring her journey with us. The children and educators came together to share stories and well-wishes. She will be dearly missed, but know she passed all her great wisdom to our very own Ellen Kerr, who is our new centre manager! Delighted to have Ellen with us in a new and exciting way. We've been exploring how different cultures celebrate important occasions, discovering that food brings communities together across traditions. From Easter to Anzac Day, we enjoyed baking Anzac cookies, decorating birthday cakes, and welcoming whānau to join us for pizza making sessions. These shared meals created wonderful opportunities for connection and learning. The month also brought unexpected challenges with the floods that affected our community. Through it all, our children and families demonstrated remarkable resilience, showing courage and adaptability. This experience highlighted the strength of our Island Bay community as we supported one another through difficult times.

From milestones to weathering storms together, it's been a month filled with learning, connection, and the beautiful reminder of how our community comes together in both joyful and challenging times.

Miramar

What a wonderful month of learning and celebration at Curious Minds Miramar! We kicked things off with a special visit from St John's Ambulance, where our tamariki learned valuable first aid skills in a fun, interactive session.

We celebrated the diverse cultural tapestry of our community with Easter festivities, the vibrant Songkran water festival, and honoured Anzac Day with age-appropriate commemorations that helped children understand the significance of this important day. Our adventure continued with a special trip to the Miramar library, where we explored new worlds through books and storytelling.

The month was filled with celebrations as we marked four birthdays for Marlene, Kaspar, Mason, and Ekam, each filled with laughter, games, and delicious treats! We also came together to celebrate Bella, our wonderful cook, with a lovely baby shower showering her with love and best wishes.

Our days have been filled with laughter, learning, and growing together as we explore, create, and discover new things every day.
